A Photo ID is required to vote. Here is a list of the IDs (PDF) you can use.

New: This Interactive Map of Smith County allows a user to enter their address to view the precinct in which they reside, as well as the districts they are eligible to vote on. Users can also view where an address is located in relation to a polling place, either early voting or on Election Day.

• January 2, 2026 – First Day to Submit an Application for Ballot by Mail
• April 2, 2026, Last Day to Register to Vote. You can check your registration status and address.
• April 20, 2026 – First Day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance
• April 20, 2026 – Last Day to Submit an Application for a Ballot by Mail (received, not postmarked)
• April 21, 2026 – Polls Closed for San Jacinto Day
• April 28, 2026 – Last Day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance
• May 2, 2026 – Election Day
• May 4, 2026 – Last Day to Receive Ballot by Mail (postmarked by 7 pm on May 2, 2026)

The Smith County Elections Office will begin live streaming the voted ballots when they are delivered to the office in their ballot boxes the evening of April 28, 2026, when early voting ballots are delivered, and will continue to do so 24 hours a day until after the votes are canvassed. This is being done to comply with Section 127.1232(b) of the Texas Election Code.
