Seven in 10 Texans say they are more worried about finances than they were a year ago and 87% said increased prices have had an impact on their household situation, according to a UT Tyler survey. Rising gas prices, increasing energy costs, lack of available rental properties, and higher grocery bills are extremely troubling to Texans. They are stressed about the economy, cutting back on spending and placing the blame on the policies of President Joe Biden.

Our Texas Constitution, supported by 76% of Texas voters, defines marriage as between one man and one woman. Despite this overwhelming support, efforts to radically change the definition of marriage continue to grow. Activists judges, out of touch elected officials, and unaccountable bureaucrats seek to undermine the clear will of the people and subvert the Texas Constitution. From advocates of homosexual marriage waging war on marriage to public policy that implicitly encourages divorce, the family is under attack on all fronts. Radical groups in Texas are working to drastically undermine the value of marriage and the family by banning public schools from teaching true abstinence education and promoting drug-based sex education that effectively encourages dangerous sexual activity outside of marriage.

Texas progressives attacked religious freedom and the role churches play in creating a “safety net” that government never could—by feeding both the body and the soul. For the principles of limited government and a republican government to succeed, morality must be part of the equation. John Adams, signer of the Declaration of Independence and the second president of the United States, recognized this fact when he wrote to the Massachusetts Militia in 1798: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”  Or as Benjamin Franklin wrote: “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”  Progressivism is a master that restricts freedom; conservatism seeks to expand freedom, which can be expanded only if a society is virtuous.

Texan voter’s #1 issue was concerning our porous Texas border. Since the start of Fiscal Year 2021 in October, approximately 900,000 migrants have avoided detection when crossing illegally into the U.S. says the Department of Homeland Security. Half-a-million of those so-called ‘getaways’ happened since October 1, 2022 – and there are still three months left in the fiscal year. Meanwhile, nearly 1.75 million migrants have had run-ins with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the southern border so far in Fiscal Year 2022 – the most of any previous year at this point. Having an open border leads to an influx of deadly drugs coming into the country, undocumented, and thus unidentifiable, sex trafficked women and children, international terrorists and increased gang and drug related criminals. This is taxing on our Texas economy, our society, our schools, our health systems and our city and county law enforcement.

The future of Texas’ economy, schools, and borders are decided this November. This is a “popular vote” meaning EVERY vote counts.
